Bryan Garner, president of LawProse Inc., will address Stetson University College of Law graduates during Spring 2010 Commencement on Saturday, May 15.
Garner is widely recognized as the nation’s leading expert on legal writing. He and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia co-authored Making Your Case: The Art of Persuading Judges, and are working on a new book about statutory interpretation. He has served as editor in chief of Black’s Law Dictionary since its seventh edition and as editor of the Chicago Manual of Style. His many books include The Elements of Legal Style, The Redbook: A Manual on Legal Style, Legal Writing in Plain English, and Garner on Language and Writing. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Harper’s Magazine, and on the Tonight Show, NPR, and 60 Minutes.
