Fall 2011 Student Organization Fair

Stetson University College of Law has over 45 registered student organizations on campus. These organizations range from religious groups to political groups to organizations focused on a particular area of law.

On Wednesday, September 21, our student organizations came together for our annual Student Organization Fair. We had a tremendous turnout from students looking for ways to get involved on campus.

2011 AIDS Walk St. Petersburg

On Saturday, Lambda, along with the Hispanic Bar Association (HBA), took part in the 2011 AIDS Walk St. Petersburg.

The walk was a 5k with half of the walk taking place along the gorgeous St. Pete waterfront. Twenty-eight members of the Stetson Law community raised money for the event and the turnout for walk day was just as high.

Stetson students, faculty members and one parent of a student raised $1390 that will be used by AIDS Services of St. Pete to provide education and testing for area residents and care for those suffering from HIV/AIDS. This was an incredibly successful event. Lambda would like to thank Professors Batt, Podgor and Zierdt for their incredible amount of support!

Remembering 9/11

As you walk onto campus this morning, you will notice 2,997 American flags on display at the corner of 15th Ave South and 61st Street South.

These flags represent the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Please take a moment to pause, reflect, and remember.

2011 Full-Time Orientation

During the week of August 15-20, we welcomed our incoming full-time 1L class to the College of Law campus.

The week consisted of a number of informational sessions ranging from casual lunches with student mentors to mock classes where students were introduced to the Socratic Method and other teaching styles.

And of course it all wouldn’t be possible without the help of our wonderful Stetson Ambassadors who provided assistance to the Office of Student Life throughout the week and serve as mentors to our incoming students. We couldn’t do it without you!

To all of our new students – welcome to Stetson University College of Law!

2011 Part-Time Orientation

On August 13 and 14, we welcomed our incoming part-time students to the College of Law campus for Orientation.

Orientation would not be possible without the help of our Stetson Ambassadors. They are always ready to greet our new students with smiles on their faces!

Our 2011 Part-Time class consists of over 70 students from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Interim Dean Royal C. Gardner welcomed the class with a bit of history about the College of Law and some advice for their time in law school.

We invited the incoming part-time students to the Tampa Law Center for their second day of Orientation. They enjoyed a mock class taught by Professor Tim Kaye and Professor Charlie Rose.

We hope our part-time students enjoyed their Orientation and we look forward to getting to know them better over the upcoming semester!
