March 13, 2003:  Gulfport, Fla. - The fight against consumer fraud will be the topic of the next People's Law School at Stetson University College of Law at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, in the Mann Lounge. The People's Law School is a series of free programs co-sponsored by the College of Law the St. Petersburg Bar Association.

Stetson Law Professor Rebecca Morgan will moderate a discussion about how to spot fraud, how to avoid becoming a victim of consumer fraud, and what actions to take if one suspects fraud. The program will also feature:

  • Assistant Attorney General Nick Cox, Tampa bureau chief for the economic crimes division, Florida Attorney General's office;

  • AARP Associate State Director William Clark; and

  • St. Petersburg Bar Association Executive Director Nora Riva Bergman.

"Fraud concerning the elderly continues to be a serious and growing problem in Florida," said Professor Morgan, who is director of Stetson's Center for Excellence in Elder Law.
