The following sites are excellent for browsing or searching for law-related e-mail mailing lists (often called "listservs" after a brand of mailing list software):

The following sites make subscribing and using mailing lists very easy -- generally a matter of picking a list and giving your e-mail address! -- but are more limited in the number of lists they have available.

Mailing lists are among the most powerful research tools on the Internet.

If you've never joined a mailing list, be sure to read up on "Nettiquette."

Once you join a mailing list, you might find yourself occasionally getting e-mail warning you about the latest virus to beware of. Most of them are hoaxes. Before warning others of a possible virus, check the CIAC/ The Department of Energy's Hoaxbusters site, which review and gives the truth behind the latest virus and other e-mail hoaxes. (Another excellent source for finding the truth behind questionable e-mails you might receive is the Urban Legends Reference Pages, which has a user-friendly database search feature.)
