- Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Beijing China Office (Business Law)
The Summer International Externship Program is a highly selective program available to a very limited number of qualified students at Stetson. Typically only 1 to 3 students will be selected per year. If selected, you are eligible to apply for a financial stipend to offset some of the costs you will incur in the program.
An interested student must apply for an International Externship through the International Programs Office. Your application must consist of a 2-3 page letter explaining what International Externship you are interested in, and why. You should indicate whether you are fluent in any foreign language. Fluency refers to both written and spoken skills. You should submit your application, and resume or C.V. electronically to Associate Dean John F. Cooper at cooper@law.stetson.edu. NOTE: All applications must be received by October of the year preceding the summer of the proposed Externship.
To qualify for an externship, a student must (a) have completed the full first-year curriculum at the time of the start of the Externship and (b) be in good academic standing. Students enrolled in the full-time program typically should qualify for an externship after they have successfully completed the spring semester of their first year of law school. Students enrolled in the part-time program typically should qualify for an international externship after they have completed successfully the spring semester of their second year of law school.
