Professor Joan Catherine Bohl ("Kate") comes to the Stetson Legal Writing Faculty after thirteen years of teaching legal writing at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. Before joining Southwestern's faculty, Professor Bohl served for five years as staff attorney to the Rhode Island Supreme Court, ultimately becoming Counsel to the Court's Ethics Advisory Panel. During this period she also taught college writing to evening students at Providence College, Providence, R.I. Her scholarship has included an article on legal ethics and numerous articles focusing on custody and visitation. She is a nationally recognized expert on grandparent visitation. Four state supreme courts, four state appellate courts and over forty law review articles have cited her law review articles in evaluating the constitutionality of grandparent visitation statutes.
