Stetson has earned a national reputation for excellence in Trial Advocacy. One
of the reasons for this recognition is its award-winning Trial
Competition Team. Stetson can proudly boast that it has won First
Place in more national-level trial competitions than any other law
school in the nation.
Stetson’s Trial Competition Team accepts new members during its
annual try-outs. To be eligible, you must be taking or have taken
Evidence, be in good academic standing, and be willing to commit the
time, energy and dedication to become a member of this championship
team. Students selected for the team are given the opportunity to
compete in state, regional and national mock trial competitions
including the ABA National Championship; National Institute for Trial
Advocacy "Tournament of Champions;" Association of Trial
Lawyers of America Student Trial Advocacy Competition; National White
Collar Crime Mock Trial Invitational; National Association of Criminal
Defense Lawyers Trial Competition; ABA National Criminal Justice Trial
Advocacy Competition; and the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers
Research & Education Foundation Intrastate Law Student Mock Trial
Competition.
The trial competitions require students to demonstrate their trial
advocacy skills in a simulated jury trial, during which they are
evaluated by experienced trial lawyers and judges. Through this
participation, a student will have the opportunity to perfect trial
skills to a degree not possible through classroom instruction, and
enjoy the most memorable experience of his or her law school
education. |
