EMPLOYMENT COMPLAINT PROCESS
(of the Florida Human Relations Commission)

The process described below provides an overview of the steps involved in the investigation of an employment complaint filed with the Florida Human Relations Commission. It is intended as a summary only, therefore, no attempt has been made to outline every conceivable step or action the Commission might take during the course of an investigation.

In both employment and housing investigations, the fact finding conference is a major step in the investigation process. It is often the first opportunity for the involved parties to meet with a neutral third party (the investigator) for the express purpose of discussing and resolving the issues in dispute.

A charge may be withdrawn at any time during the complaint process. Also, at any time during the process the Respondent may make an offer of settlement. If the settlement offer is accepted by the Complainant, the case may be closed at that time.
